Before joining ARC, Wright worked for the Plant, Soils and Biometeorology Department as the Global Positioning System/Geographic Information System (GPS/GIS) Technician. His responsibilities included training county agents to use GPS and GIS and teaching elementary school children about GPS and infrared sensors.
Wright is a graduate of the Utah State University with a B.A. in Geology and an emphasis in Hydrogeology Engineering. He will receive his MS degree in Soil Science and GIS/Remote Sensing this spring. His graduate project used GIS, GPS and remote sensing to detect nitrogen stress in spring wheat and compared the results to ground-based methods.
The ARC applies advanced remote sensing and spatial information technology in partnerships with US companies, state/local/tribal governments and non-governmental organizations by focusing university research capabilities on industry requirements.
