Vehicle Integrated Sensor Suite for Testbed Applications
VISSTA enabled the Government to simultaneously collect data from a variety of co-boresighted sensors mounted on a moving platform to test performance in various scene and atmospheric conditions. The program provided test and analysis data to determine each sensor’s strengths and weaknesses so that improvements could be made.
VISSTA was a joint effort between the NAVAIR Weapons Division, SDL, and the Center for Advanced Imaging Ladar at Utah State University. SDL was responsible for designing and fabricating the mobile sensor fusion laboratory for use as a research and development testbed and integrating the sensor suite and supporting equipment into a road-worthy ground vehicle.
