Distributed Common Ground System

Enabling the acquisition, interpretation, and sharing of actionable intelligence data in real time

The DoD’s Distributed Common Ground Station (DCGS) is a family of fixed and deployable ground processing systems that support the real-time collection, analysis, and dissemination of intelligence and imagery from manned and unmanned reconnaissance sources. SDL supplies key technologies for the military’s DCGS program, including ground station hardware, data link interface solutions, and imagery exploitation software. We are able to tailor these products to the specific needs of the customer (e.g., different sensors in use) while using common components and interfaces that facilitate data sharing.

SDL has built customized ground stations, adapted its modular VANTAGE™ software suite, and provided data link interface products such as the CIB to support the unique needs of the various DCGS programs, including:

  • Mobile Intelligence Datalink System (MIDAS)
  • Shared Reconnaissance Pod (SHARP) Display Station (SDS)
  • Joint Service Imagery Processing System (JSIPS)
  • DCGS-N Increment 1 Block 1
  • DCGS-N Increment 1 Block 2, including Consolidated Afloat Networks and Enterprise Services (CANES)

  • Virtual Imagery Processing – Marine Corp (VIP-MC)
  • Tactical Exploitation Group – Remote Workstation (TEG-RWS)
  • Squadron Expeditionary Exploitation System (SEES)

  • Operation Ground Station (OGS)
  • Tactical Ground System (TGS)
  • Virtual Imagery Processing–Army

  • Virtual Imagery Processing Capability (VIP-C)
  • Data Dissemination Element (DDE)

SDL’s stations are compatible with the DCGS Integration Backbone (DIB), which facilitates sharing of ISR data between DCGS programs.
