Polarization provides unique information for target detection (background suppression) and identification and is one of the five primary remote sensing domains. SDL focuses on understanding the polarization characteristic of non-polarimetric sensors and using polarization as a component of a complete sensor calibration.

Sensors: hyperspectral imaging polarimeters; long, medium and short wave IR polarimeters; video-rate imaging polarimeters
Calibration (polarimeters and other IR sensors): sensor-level measurements, component-level measurements, uncertainty analysis
Data processing and visualization: conversion from raw response to hyper-cubes, hyper-cube visualization
