Space Dynamics Laboratory Awarded Patent for a Vibration Tolerant Satellite Interferometry

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. – The Utah State University Research Foundation’s Space Dynamics Laboratory announced at the 33rd Space Symposium today that it has been awarded a patent for the Dall Carriage – a ruggedized interferometer optical carriage, with reduced sensitivity to cryocooler and flight induced vibrations.

LOGAN - On May 17, the Air Force Research Laboratory successfully deployed its Satellite for High Accuracy Radar Calibration — or SHARC — into a low-Earth orbit from the International Space Station. Utah State University’s Space Dynamics Laboratory developed the satellite's flight software, radio interface circuit board, and provided fabrication and assembly expertise for its main subsystems.

USU’s Space Dynamics Laboratory has developed and manufactured a small satellite that will play a role in the calibration of ground-based radar systems for the Department of Defense and demonstrate technologies for the Air Force.
