Virtual Imagery Processing Capability (VIP-C) Support
Air Force ‐ Air Force Materiel Command
Support and services for the Virtual Imagery Processing Capability (VIP-C) at Air Force-identified processing and data relay locations within the Extended Tether Program (ETP) Remote Ground Station (RGS), Distributed Common Ground System (DCGS) architecture and the DoD GEOINT enterprise
The Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC) executed this contract with the Space Dynamics Laboratory to ensure ongoing support for the VIP-C program as implemented on Air Force assets
VIP-C is a system that receives data and generates first level products for high-altitude sensors. Aircraft equipped with onboard sensors obtain imagery data, transmit it via radio frequency link to a receiver, and then transfer the data to the VIP-C system. VIP-C, running VANTAGE⢠server software, receives the data either via the Sky Lynx common data link (CDL) interface or via Ethernet. VANTAGE forms image files using the National Imagery Transmission Format (NITF). These files are then disseminated to the sites for analysis and exploitation.
